Nördlich von Hijken liegen im teilweise aufgeforsteten Hijkerveld Fragmente einer 'Celtic-Fields'-Flur, die sich einst viel weiter nach Südwesten erstreckte, aber dort durch Heideumbruch und landwirtschaftliche Bearbeitung weitestgehend verschwunden ist (Mitte und im Südwesten der Grafik). Im Westen der erhaltenen 'Celtic Fields' gibt es besonders stark ausgeprägte Parzellenränder, was auf eine sehr lange Nutzungszeit der dort rechteckigen Parzellen schließen lässt. Unmittelbar südöstlich schließen zahlreiche Grabhügel an, zwei davon auf länglichem Grundriss. Weitere Grabhügel vereinzelt im Umfeld. To the north of Hijken, in the partially afforested Hijkerveld, there are fragments of 'Celtic Fields' which once extended much further to the southwest, but has largely disappeared there due to heather ploughing and agricultural cultivation (center and southwest of the diagram). In the west of the surviving 'Celtic Fields' there are particularly pronounced plot edges, which suggests that the rectangular plots there were used for a very long time.
